Managed tech transfer and successful start-up of 30kta Butanediol facility (Italy); Identified and built critical technical partnerships with large multinationals in licensing, raw material supply, tolling and final product application areas; Assumed responsibility of a small, low engaged and high turnover team (mostly Millenials) and helped grow team to 20 FTE’s and high engagement; Reduced overall process development cost by $15MM and accelerated commercialization timeline by 2 years through techno economic analysis and a network of third party pilot and demo providers; Decreased business risk by building a risk management culture, incl. best practices in IP awareness, security, safety, portfolio & project management

Director of Technology

Led a complex, highly strategic joint development effort with PepsiCo and Kraft Foods focused on speed to market of a new sweetener resulting in a launch 2 years ahead of the competition; Built and directed a technology organization (50-100 people in fermentation, enzymolysis, process development, food application science, analytical, and regulatory), budget $15 - 30 MM/yr; Developed and implemented an IP and regulatory strategy; Identified and built new-to-Cargill international alliances to deliver on critical capabilities required to secure the supply chain (e.g., DSM, Evonik, Novasep)


2003 - 2009


Principal Engineer

Managed innovation project pipeline for Cargill’s Grain & Oilseed Supply Chain business unit as a member of the business leadership team; Introduced a unique and new processing technology in the food industry, leading to increased bottling line speeds at PepsiCo and Coca Cola bottling plants worldwide (ongoing roll-out); Commercialized (and patented) a novel process technology for Cargill US and SE Asia resulting in increased yields (> $10MM/yr EBITDA)
