Faiz Y. Bhora, MD, FACS is the Chief of Thoracic Surgery and Associate Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at Health Quest Health System. He was most recently Chief of Thoracic Surgery in the Mount Sinai Health in New York. Dr. Bhora's clinical area of interest is Thoracic Oncology Surgery. He specializes in minimally invasive approaches to thoracic diseases, using VATS and robotic techniques to perform minimally invasive operations. He is nationally and internationally known for his expertise in robotic and advanced airway surgery. Dr. Bhora is actively involved in translational research and in resident and medical student education. He leads a translational research lab that focuses on tissue engineering, 3D printing of the trachea, machine learning, augmented virtual reality to make surgery more precise, and research of large databases to help provide evidence-based solutions to thoracic diseases. He has mentored 15 post-doctoral fellows and over 300 medical students. He has authored several seminal publications and is regularly asked to organize, moderate and lecture at national and international scientific meetings. In addition, he serves as a consultant and scientific advisor to several major biomedical companies and is considered a thought leader in surgical innovation, digital surgery and futuristic surgical platforms. Dr. Bhora is President of the New York General Thoracic Surgical Club (NYGTSC) and President of the Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society (ECTSS), one of the largest thoracic societies in the country. He has held or holds leadership positions and committee chairs in most major medical societies and is listed annually in all Castle Connolly and other peer referenced best doctor lists such as America’s Top Doctors, Top Doctors NY Metro Area, and America’s Top Surgeons for Cancer, America’s Top Surgeons, NY Magazine Top Doctors and New York Super Docs.

Faiz Y. Bhora, MD, FACS is Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Roosevelt and Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospitals. He is Director of Thoracic Surgical Oncology, Thoracic Surgery Research, Robotic Thoracic Surgery, and Co-Director of the Airway Center at Mount Sinai Health Systems. He is also Associate Program Director of General Surgery at Mount Sinai Roosevelt and Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospitals. He holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor of Surgery at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Bhora's area of interest and specialty is Thoracic Oncology Surgery. He specializes in minimally invasive approaches to thoracic surgical diseases, especially thoracic cancer and in the use of the Da Vinci robot to perform minimally invasive thoracic surgery. He is nationally and internationally known for his expertise in advanced airway surgery, including airway stenting. Dr. Bhora is actively involved in translational research and in resident and medical student education. He is Director of Thoracic Surgery Research and Director of the Thoracic Surgery/Robotics elective at the Icahn School of Medicine. He has mentored over one dozen post-doc fellows and nearly 100 medical students. He has authored several important publications and is regularly asked to present and lecture at national and international meetings. His current research is focused on regenerative medicine, including 3-D printing of the trachea and stem cells. His Lab is also actively investigating novel mutations with predictive response to chemotherapy and radiation in lung cancer. Dr. Bhora is President of the New York General Thoracic Surgical Club. He is listed on all peer referenced best doctor lists including America’s Top Doctors, NY Magazine Top Doctors and New York Super Docs.
