Francisco Javier Carod-Artal
Dr Francisco Javier Carod-Artal is a consultant neurologist from the Neurology department at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness (Highlands). He also leads the research unit at the Health Science Center and is the principal investigator for a dozen trials neurology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and also visiting professor of Neurology and Director of International Master in Tropical Neurology and Infectious Diseases at Universitat Internacional of Catalonia in Barcelona. Dr Carod-Artal has a special interest in neuro-inflammation and neuro-infection, multiple sclerosis, migraine, epilepsy, motor neuron disease, and neuro-epidemiology, and is involved in clinical research in MS and other areas in neurology. Dr Carod-Artal has a PhD in Neurology from Madrid Complutense University; a postdoctoral visiting fellowship at the New York Neurological Institute and Columbia University; and a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology. He has written 180 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and 30 chapters of books, and has presented more than 200 papers and lectures at neurological congresses. He also serves as an external peer reviewer for 30 international journals in the field of neurology.
