Micro-finance initiative in which women were taught sewing skills and sold beautiful clothing to cover the cost of chemotherapy for their chilrdren -- most of whom had a diagnosis of Burkitt's lymphoma. Developed programs to improve access to chemotherapy and education about early detection for cancer. • Assessed chemotherapy demand and supply chain at Uganda Cancer Institute • Negotiated with international pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors • Developed a donor-based program for pharmaceutical access • Conducted focus groups to assess stigma in the community • Created an incentive based, SMS-mobile phone program for cancer education (TLC-Text to Learn about Cancer) (not funded) • Interviewed, selected and managed students from Columbia University as part of WUA-internship • Spearheaded and completed a successful fundraising event with celebrity guests #africa #ssa
