Technical Product Owner

TEAM SIZE: 10 PRODUCT: The product I was working for, was the first website designed for the loan of cars between individuals. This site provided a catalog of more than 30 000 cars, where each individual could either rent or provide his own car for renting. This service is used throughout France. The company’s priority was to have the possibility to extend the market and avoid the bottleneck in increasing the amount of the permanent clients using the service. MISSION The goal of the project was to refactor the main source code (the back-end part) of the application in order to give to the back-end part the needed flexibility in terms of new technologies and adaptability to new modifications as well as a better source code handling. My mission was to lead the team in the direction on monolith to micro-services design migration. My team team was working on modeling a new architecture for the entire source code. The main idea of the new architecture was refactoring and splitting the existing code into micro services. ROLE: Technical Product Owner. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Facilitating the resolution of the obstacles encountered within the team. • Fostering an environment which facilitates creativity and collaboration within the team. • Stimulating the improvement of the team knowledge / solutions. • Coordination of the development team, supporting and assisting its members whenever necessary. • Translating the functional specifications into technical tickets. • Ensuring that the team understands the business processes that are in the background of the technical tasks. • Design of the database structure for the future micro-services. • Ensuring the process of migration of the monolith application into microservices. CLIENT: Publisher of journals and internet sites for real estate advertizing The client was a company created in 1975, the main press group in France, which offered to individuals a set of publications and services that allowed them to carry out any real estate transaction without any intermediary agents. PROJECT My team team was working on two back-office applications dedicated to the real estate content broadcast process: - an application used by all the services addressed to individuals, allowing to effectively manage ad orders, related services and contracts, as well as to generate content for different websites and newspapers and to extract statistic data from these specific sites and newspapers; - an advertising content management application including two modules : a production module aiming to create newspapers and enhance websites with various content types (advertisements, articles) and a marketing module including all the business management traditional functions (client management, order entry, billing, statistics). Our team was working on developing and transforming a video into an interactive website, aiming to provide to entrepreneurs the option of creating immersive virtual tours of their physical spaces. CLIENT The client was an independent information service in the funeral field, offering to its end clients a platform where they can search for all death notices, funeral services providers and funeral homes in France. The website proposed a series of fact sheets accompanying clients during all the post-death administrative actions to be undertaken. PROJECT My team was participating in this product both as the development and the consultant team. The project was launched with a team of 2 senior Java Developers, which increased up to 7 Java Developers in 2 months and 2 Front-End Developers during the first 3 months. The Java team was in charge of developing the application based on Domain Driven Design, and will provide to the end client a list of independent microservices. The front-end team was responsible for the UI part, developed with Symfony3 framework and Angular 2.
