ChalkTalk is a remarkable tool that helps every teacher ‘teach amazing.’ Using fully-adaptive technology, it generates a personalized ELA & math curriculum that has shown to dramatically improve student learning outcomes, including state test scores. Using results from a student placement test, ChalkTalk’s machine-learning software generates standards-aligned curriculum customized to fit within the existing class schedule. Lesson plans, instructional slides, walkthrough examples, and small group practice activities are adaptively generated for the teacher, while personalized practice problems and review exercises are adaptively generated for each student. In this way, ChalkTalk acts as the ultimate teacher’s assistant - scaffolding instruction for each student while using class progress to shape future instruction. Today, ChalkTalk is used by schools across the United States from New York to Hawaii. TrueMotion is shaping the future of driving safety - through data and technology - while redefining how insurance is priced and delivered. TrueMotion’s technology platform enables insurance companies to distinguish between safe and risky drivers, reward safe drivers with discounts on their insurance and help reduce the number of driving accidents, leading to safer roads for all. As a data scientist, I built the algorithms and infrastructure to support: identifying if you're the driver or the passenger, collision detection, and driver scoring (which has led to multiple patents). I was the first hire and as with any start up did much more than my job description (the imaginary one that was never actually written down), which has ranged from slamming the brakes on my car and getting in and out of a car hundreds of times in a day to onboarding each member of the data science team and leaving the office at 5am.
