I have enjoyed thirty-one years of leadership experience in acute care hospital patient financial services and patient access services and have extensive knowledge in all aspects of the patient revenue cycle. Recently My most recent employment was with Sutter Health’s Shared Services organization as the Senior Director of the Central Business Office (CBO) providing billing and collection services for the Sutter Health hospital system. Prior to the leadership of the CBO I designed, implemented and lead the Patient Access Center which provided centralized patient access and financial clearance support for all hospitals in the Sutter Health system. I have consistently achieved high employee engagement scores by developing an inclusive and transparent organizational culture. I am recognized as an innovative leader who has a record of measurable improvement in all key performance indicators achieving industry best in class results. I am frequently asked to speak at national and regional conferences for HFMA. Recently I presented on Using Analytics to Reduce Cost to Collect, Process Transformation, Quality metrics, Pricing Transparency, etc. and conducted three educational seminars on Lean Concepts (A3 Thinking, Value Stream Mapping and Lean Tools) for multiple HFMA regional conferences. Senior Director Central Business Office, Revenue Cycle

In this executive level position I was responsible for the leadership of the Central Business Office that provides billing and collection services for twenty four (24) acute care hospitals in Northern California with an annual revenue of $25 Billion and collections of $6.4 Billion annually in 2019. As the CBO leader in the Sutter Health Shared Services I am responsible for achievement of Revenue Cycle and organization goals and objectives. Directly accountable for leadership of 306 full time employees in areas of claims submission, account follow-up, denial resolution, payment posting, reconciliation, payer management and patient customer service. Work closely with hospital Administration and Management to ensure strong communication and support of patient revenue cycle. Collaborate with other Revenue Cycle leaders to ensure maximum cash collection, reduced denials and reduced days in accounts receivables. Assist with leadership and support of Epic implementations throughout the Sutter Health system. Special projects included department restructuring, Epic work queue redesign and management of system-wide change of ownership initiative changing facility NPI and tax ID numbers minimizing payer disruption.

I worked closely with hospital Administration and Management to ensure strong communication and support of patient revenue cycle. Responsible for providing leadership in patient accounts receivables management, patient revenue cycle, patient access to ensure achievement of department goals and objectives supporting eight (8) acute care hospitals. Leading two hundred and fifty (250) facility based and central office employees I had direct accountable for Patient Access, Central Patient Access and Scheduling, Patient Contact Center and Patient Financial Advocacy departments. In this role I created the first centralized preregistration unit that provided patient preregistration and financial clearance, insurance verification, authorization validation and patient liability collection functions. I also implemented the first combined Schedgistration (scheduling and registration) model for Sutter Health supporting Radiology services.

During the combining of Children’s Hospital and Pacific Presbyterian Hospital I standardized Patient Access, Financial Counseling and Patient Billing functions supporting the new California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) hospital.
